Keva Brain Builders and Structures

Do your students or kids love to build things?  I know mine do!

I love how building things has kids use their imagination and their motor skills.  Things all kids should be using!  It is easy to forgot about hands-on toys with technology, but they are so important too.  Blocks are great things to add to your STEM block or Fine Motor centers.

When the package of Keva Structures 200 Plank Set showed up to our house and I opened it, my kids were super excited to play with them.  I decided to have my own children test them out first, then I would take them to school.

Not only were my kids fascinated with the Planks but so was my husband.

He enjoyed trying to build the structures that were in the book that came with the 200 piece Structure Box.  We found that building on the carpet made it difficult for the structures to stay built.  Building on a flat surface is better.

My boys and kids love building with these and I know your students and/or kids would too!

This week I brought the Keva Structures to my classroom.  I was excited to see the kiddos reaction to them.  We made a center out of them.

The first day we use the Structures the kids had so much fun building with them.  They were building structures flat against the ground.

The different kiddos that were using them had a blast with them!  They thought they were so much fun.  The boys AND the girls loved them.

It was interesting throughout the week to see what they choose to do with them.  I noticed their creativity was growing and their flat structures were becoming 3D structures.

By Friday, all the students were completely involved in building with them.  They hated when their time was up for this center.  Their structures were growing in size the more we used them.  I loved watching them figure out which way to put the next block.

As you can see their structures were growing towards the ceiling by the end of the week.  They were figuring out how to place them to make them grow.

Keva Structures are great for the classroom and/or at home!  Students all ages LOVE them.  They are simple blocks but with a little imagination the blocks turn into great big structures that require students to use problem solving skills, motor skills, balance, and geometry.  I know those are important skills I want my students to have.  These toys that teach are great for building brain power.  I recommend Keva Structures for ALL classrooms and homes.  If your school has a makerspace, these would be perfect.

Keva also has the Brain Builders and the Brain Builders Jr.  These make a quick center for your classroom.  These have cards in them that give students an idea what to build.  The Jr. set has pictures of letters the students can build.  How great is that for kindergarten?

I hope you will check Keva Structures out and give them a try.  I would love to hear how you are incorporating them and what you think.  Go to MindWare to grab your own.

Have a Wolfelicious day!

2016-2017 Classroom Reveal

Are you ready to see my 2016-2017 classroom reveal?
Photo of Wolfelicious Classroom Reveal 2016-2017
I'm pretty sure I need to be on HGTV or TLC for a weekend classroom reveal.  This room was put together and painted in one weekend due to my school adding another kindergarten class.

It was drab and dreary. :(
Before pictures...

Looking in from the entrance.

Preschool Days 2

Another wonderful day of preschool in the Wolfe house!  My little guy enjoyed getting to paint with q-tips.

Here are somethings we did.

We practiced shapes by trying to trace the shape word.  Then we used q-tips and painted dots around the shape.

He really enjoyed doing this.  He took his time and was trying to get in the circles on the paper.

Check out these wonderful shape worksheets HERE.

He does a great job with knowing what a triangle and a circle are.  He can easily identify them to me.

Next we worked on a shape that I knew he was having trouble with.  We talked about what shape it was and how all the sides are the same size.  Then we found some things in our kitchen that were squares.  Last, I had him trace the word square and then paint it. (I was amazed at his tracing this time.  He took his time and really tried to stay right on the dotted lines.  We are making progress. :))

Next we worked on the letter A.  He wants to call it O so we can't going over and over that it is an A.  On this paper he had to find all the A's and color them.  He was able to do this!  His coloring is a little crazy but that will come in time.

After finding all the A's he had another coloring page that had an uppercase A and a lowecase a on it. Plus it had an ant.  He has been working on that throughout the day.

Check out these wonderful coloring sheets HERE.

Next we worked on ABC Mouse for a little while and then  he wanted to take a break.

He worked really hard today and I am super proud of him.

Here is a short video I made of what all we did.

I decided that I wanted to make a new alphabet line for my class with the weathered wood look but also the chalkboard look. (I love those two things together).

So here is my latest project!  I hope you like it!!  I have made it in D'Nealian and Cursive.

Number Puzzles 1-18

Photo of Number Puzzles Wolfelicious

My son needs more practice with numbers and counting.  When he uses hands-on activities he understands the concepts better.

Who doesn't love puzzles?
I decided to make Number Puzzles 1-18 for my son to practice his numbers.

I made 4 different sets of matching numbers so 4 students during a center could work on these.  I used different colored apples to match each set.

Again, these are great for students working on numbers or students who need a refresher of numbers.

I included numbers 1-18 for students to practice counting dominos.

All you have to do is click the link to go to my TPT store.

They are super easy to make.  Print.  Cut out!  Laminate.  Cut out again!  Separate by apple color.  Put each set in it's own baggie.  Put in a Word Work center.

I know you (the teacher) are probably really busy this time of year so this would be a great project for a volunteer to help you put together.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
