Magnets, New Items, Groundhog Day, and Subway Art

This week my class learned about magnets.  My students just loved learning about them.  Their faces lit up when they got to explore with them.  I love knowing they love what we are doing.

We learned about what magnets stick to and the different shapes magnets come in.  The pictures below are the students explore what exactly a magnet attracts to and what it repels.  They are working as a table to sort the items to magnetic and not magnetic.

Then the next day the students had to do their own sort.

Another new item I have in my shop is my iHeart Man.  I would love to have you check it out!  There are two different ones you can make and 6 different iPads you can choose from.  Check it out!

Aren't they adorable?!!

Then, we also learned about Groundhog Day.  We made these adorable hats to wear and did a writing about if we thought the groundhog would see his shadow.  I forgot to take a picture of their writing, but you can see it here from last year.  (It is a freebie so make sure you check it out).  On Monday, I plan on having the students finish up their writing.

One of my fellow team members had her baby on the 31st!  I am so excited for her.  She had an adorable little girl.  I have seen the Subway Art floating around on Pinterest and just knew I needed to make one for her.  Her nursery is pink and gray so I made it in those colors.  I am so excited to give it to her.  I hope she likes it.  I like them so much that I had to make them for me too.  Here is the one for my son that I made.

I made it an 11 by 14.  Now I just need to get two frames.  I have started the next baby's with the name and some of the information.  Once I have him all I have to do is enter the information and send it to Walgreens to print.  Easy peasy wall art that looks awesome.  Once I get both of them up I will take a picture so you can see how they turned out.

I hope you had a good week.

  1. I love Subway art. I've always wanted one for my kids' rooms. Since I have learned to play with fonts and graphics a bit more...I may attempt one.
