Kid blogging

Do you have a Kidblog.org account?  If not, you should!  This is a free blog that you can set up and use with your class.

I use this in my kindergarten classroom.  It is a great way to have them practice their typing skills.  I use kidblog to write questions and then have the students write a sentence commenting back to me.  I love seeing what they write and how they write it.

We use our computers to comment.

I have students use our classroom iPads to comment somedays too.  I think it is great to get them use to typing on a computer keyboard and an iPad keyboard.

My students are still learning how to type, but I think this is a great way to have them practice and learn to write a sentence.

Here is how the website looks once you set up your class.  My subject I made was Easter Break and then when the students clicked it, it opened up a question for them.  I asked them what they did over break?  As you can see below, Keelin responded by saying, "I dyed Ester eggs and did A ester egg hunt."  She made a wonderful sentence.  She is one of my smarties!
The students can even set up their own blogs.  You can set it up to have others look at it and to only have your class look at it.  I also have to approve each comment that is made.  Again, this is such a great way to practice writing a sentence and have the students use a keyboard.  If you haven't tried student blogging, you should!

I would love to hear if you have your students blog or if you think you would give it a try now.

Happy Blogging!
